Good Moaning Lover
In Banfield, in the early hours of the morning. Simthandile tossed and turned in her sleep, getting sweeter as she mumbled inaudible words like she was fighting with something.
"MAMA TATA NTANDO NOOOOOO"
She jumped and looked around the dark shark while trying to catch her breath, with sweat running down her forehead.
"It was just a dream, Thandi, it was just a dream."
Tears stung her eyes as her chest went up and down from all the breathing and trying to catch her breath. This dream had been bothering her for a week now, and as much as she wasn't trying to revisit her past. It was as if it was forcing her to revisit it. She slowly stood up and sighed as she realized that she had peed on herself. She took out her clothes as the cold breeze from the cold winter hit her skinny and tanned skin. She quickly put on her gown and took a match that had only one matchstick left before lighting the candle.
She removed her bedding and put it in her little dish that she uses to bathe before taking the last bath soap bar that was meant to last her until month end.
The cold winter breeze hit her as she stepped outside and walked to the nearest tap. She poured the cold water and began washing her things. An hour late, she was done. She poured water into the bath and went back in as she took off her gown and got in the cold water, shivering.
An hour later, she smiled, looking at herself outside her window as she finished wearing her school uniform. Her long green skirt had some patches as well as her jersey on the elbows, but what made her confident every time she wore it was that she was always clean, and her uniform looked very good on her; it wasn't as if she used those metal irons to iron it.
She picked up her old school bag and the ice cream tub she always carries to school to put some leftovers and put them inside her bag. Then she ate the last slice of bread she had in her house. It was very dry, so she washed it with water as she sighed, feeling at least something in her stomach before walking out of her shark and locking it.
Meanwhile, at Mariana Construction Company, a young man in a smart suit walked down the passages of the company, stealing the attention of some workers. He knocked once at an office before letting himself in, as an old man who was inside smiled, lifting up his head.
He stood up as the young man smiled while shaking hands with him.
Old man: Son, you may take a seat.
The young man did as instructed while looking at his father, who smiled before taking a deep breath.
Old man: I'm happy that my company will be at least in good hands *took out some papers and gave them to him* I know that you are not familiar with the company, but I trust you to take good care of it and keep it safe.
He looked at the papers and sighed. I thought you were going to stay a little while and teach me how things go before retirement.
Old man:* shook his head, can't. Chuckled, I'm too old, but I need to spend time with my wife and enjoy her before I become a grandfather.
He nodded okay, then.
Old man: smiled* but your big brother will help you out if you need some help.
Him: shook his head and stood up* I have nothing to do with Phila, and I don't want him near me. I'd rather figure everything out by myself.
Old man: But so...
interjected* Father, please, I don't want to fight. Keep your dog away from me, I don't need his help. Sighed with a chuckle* Anyway, have a good day.
He fixed his suit, that sitting tight on his, and walked out as his father sighed, shaking his head.
Meanwhile, during lunch, at eNkwenkwezini High School, Simthandile sighed, standing on the long cue as they collected food. Minutes passed, then she smiled sweetly, greeting the ladies who were cooking.
Her: Hey, sister Spindle.
Sister Phindile smiled, greeting her back before dishing her the small portion of food that was left. She gave her back as Simthandile swallowed, looking at her food in disappointment. Sister Phindile sadly looked at her and sighed.
\
Phindile: I'm sorry, my child, the food was small today, and I really thought that you weren't present cause you always come to the kitchen first.
: sighed sadly as she tried so hard not to cry. I was writing a test today, that's why I came late.
Sis's spindle took out an apple and gave it to her.
Phindile: I bought this on my way to work. I know it's not enough, but it will keep you throughout the night.
Simthandile took it as she sadly nodded.
Her: Thank you, sis...
She swallowed, walking out as she tried so hard not to cry as she passed some students who were already eating. Her stomach grumbled, but knowing that she had to keep the food for later, she just sighed, ignoring it as she went back to class.
